EXCELLENT Based on 395 reviews Matt O2025-09-10Verified Greenleaf is absoultely AMAZING!!! There is a reason there are no bad reviews for Drake Bay Greenleaf. The place is an absolute paradise. I spent a lot of time looking for a place to stay for our trip and I can't imagine any other property being as AMAZING as Greeleaf. My family and I have traveled quite a bit over the years and I have to say that we have never met anyone who cares about your experience more than Hellen (and Vinny). From the moment you step on the property, you feel like you are visiting family. We were nervous about visiting in late-August due to their rainy season, but had great weather during our stay. The storms roll in late afternoon, but don't last too long. The food is outstanding and Hellen's flexibility with menu options (we have a 12 year old son) was so nice. Hellen arranged all of our excursions with folks that she trusts and I have to say we were not disappointed. We did a discovery dive, Corcovado Sirena tour and a local hike with Nellie (by far our best tour). As many folks have mentioned in their reviews, we saw more animals (and up close) than we did on the Corcovado tour. The rooms are incredibly spacious and CLEAN with a stunning view of the bay! If you are planning on visiting Drake Bay - you have to stay at Greenleaf. You will NOT be disappointed. April H2025-09-06Verified Simply incredible Drake Bay Greenleaf is an incredible place. The location is stunning, the jungle setting enchanting, and the food absolutely delicious. The rooms are very comfortable, and the property is alive with wildlife. We saw capuchins, toucans, aracari, scarlet macaws, coatimundi, and even a Baird’s tapir right on site. What makes Greenleaf truly magical is Hellen. She goes above and beyond for her guests with genuine warmth and care. She treated our kids with such kindness, and they quickly became fast friends with her son, Vinny. From the moment we arrived, it felt like visiting with a beloved friend or sister. We arranged a Corcovado tour through Hellen with Gustavo, a talented and compassionate biologist. Watching a tamandua (lesser anteater) for nearly half an hour was a rare and special highlight. The boat ride to La Sirena was beautiful and an adventure in itself. Our stay was everything we hoped for and more. Drake Bay Greenleaf is a gem and we would return in a heartbeat. Paul-Henri B2025-08-23Verified A little gem in Drake Bay We have had a wonderful experience at Greenleaf! We had 2 ocean view rooms. The rooms are big and comfortable, every detail has been thought of, a beautiful bathroom, great beds etc. It is one of the most beautiful small scale boutique hotels we ever did! The owner Helen is so kind and attentive, up to every detail, which makes the stay so wonderful! The breakfast and diner were exquisite and the location of the hotel is great up the hill, with a great view on Drake bay and every day you see lots of birds, the mankeys and chi chi the tapir which are part of the family! The complementary Sirena and snorkelling tours in the pack are definitely worth it! A big thank you to Hellen and her son to have made our stay so wonderful 🙏 Kristelle, Paul-Henri, Nathan and Raphaël Shawn S2025-08-22Verified A Fantastic Experience With Unbelievable Attention to Detail! My son and I stayed at Drake Bay Greenleaf and had a fabulous experience! The room was extremely clean, very comfortable and had a beautiful view of the ocean. The meals were the best we had during our 17 days traveling all over Costa Rica, and each dish was prepared to our liking. Helen pays attention to every detail and we honestly felt like family while we were there. We enjoyed seeing all of the wildlife on the grounds including coati, tapir and countless birds. The property is immaculately maintained everywhere you look and you have difficulty finding a nicer option for lodging in Drake Bay. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to all of my friends & family and I will definitely be returning. Simone S2025-08-03Verified Best experience ever Dear Hellen, Thank you for this extraordinary experience. In the middle of the rainforest, an oasis of hospitality. We were spoiled with kindness, attentivness and helpfulness. The Bungalows are decorated with exquisite style and attention to details. Nothing is missing, everything is sparkling clean and funktional. Sipping a coffee on the covered balcony while watching the passing toucans and macaws, observing the tapir or simple enyoing the wonderful view of the sea, is unbeatable. The food is prepared according to personal preferences and served both, tastefully and beautifully. Hellen is a caring, helpful and childloving host, for example: We returned totally soaked and dirty after a 3- day jungle trip. Our entire laundry, inkluding hiking shoes and backpacks, were cleaned the same evening. We warmly recommend Hellen an her Greenleaf Hotel Team in Drake Bay. We will come back ♥️ The green Eye Family of Switzerland Izabela D2025-08-02Verified A taste of paradise. My son and I just spent a week at Drake Bay Greenleaf resort. It was an absolutely amazing experience. Helen and her son Vinnie are wonderful hosts. They are warm, welcoming and personable and made us feel like we were all family and very well taken care of. Helen made sure to cater to my son's picky appetite and that we both got excelent, nutritious food for every meal. The meals were well balanced, healthy, delicious and completely home made. Presentation was exquisite every time as well. Hellen, also helped me decide which trips would work for me and my 6 yo and organized them for me including the transportation and payment. She made everything very easy and seemless. The resort sits on top of a hill surrounded by the jungle with a beautiful open view of the ocean and the mountain chains. The rooms are impecable, and perfectly planned with minimal furniture and lots of windows to make them feel airy and open to the beautiful surroundings without distractions of artwork or busy decorations. The bungalows are private and surrounded by life. Wildlife come on the property and they are friendly and safe to interact with. It feels surreal to wake up in the morning and be greeted by monkeys, agutis and exotic birds. If you're lucky a large blue butterfly might fly by as well. In the evenings, Lulu, the tapir comes to visit. Will leave you speechless. I have traveled many places, but this has made number 1 one my list. I reccomend it 100%. bestmom1012025-07-05Verified For wildlife lovers! This was a repeat for us - the first time was December and this one we had meaning to repeat because the first was such a unique and wonderful experience. Helen, Steven and their little son Vincent are truly exceptional hosts. Very warm, loving with lots of personalized care for each of their guests. The wildlife is incredible even at the lodge, the food is excellent. And the guides they work with are experts, passionate about the flora and fauna of Osa. Gustavo is an outstanding wildlife guide, as is Wilson the scuba dive master. Coastal099598553522025-07-04Verified A tremendous lodge on Costa Rica Corcovado coast We stayed at Drake Bay Greenleaf lodge for five nights in mid-June, '25. Greenleaf is a tremendous lodge, four bungalows and dining hall all recently constructed and beautifully made. Food is excellent and healthy, prepared by Helen, the creator and owner. The lodge is on the crest of the ridge above Drake Bay (Bahia Drake) with spectacular views of the bay from the terraces on the bungalows and the dining hall. The terraces have views of all the vegetation and habitats below on slope descending toward the bay - lots and lots of birds to view and enjoy. Birds and wildlife are numerous and diverse due to the variety of habitats - rain forest on the south side of the ridge and open understory below the lodge. In a 2 1/2-hour bird outing around the lodge we counted over forty species. Tapirs, coati, and howler monkeys are seen at the lodge regularly. Helen will book tours of Corcovado Nat'l Park and the mangrove preserve as well as snorkeling and fishing, Great experience - we highly recommend Drake Bay Green Leaf. Tucker2025-06-19Verified Experience of a lifetime!!! Our family of four, 2 adults and 2 teenagers have been fortunate to visit many places over the planet and Drake Bay Greenleaf is one of the best places we have ever stayed. Everything at Drake Bay Greenleaf vastly exceeded our expectations- the rooms, the food, the property and above all the hospitality. There is an abundant amount of wildlife just outside your room, we saw tapirs, capuchin and spider monkeys (and woke up to howler monkeys nearby), agouti, coati, macaws, tucans, aracari, tanagers, hummingbirds, motmots and much more just walking around the property The owner, Hellen (along with her husband Steve and son Vinny) is the most incredible host - she organized our entire itinerary for Drake Bay, from the mangrove tour/boat transfer from Sierpe, to the day trip to Corcovado (both with local guide Gustavo, who we highly recommend) to the transportation to our next destination. We unfortunately had 1 complete wash out of a day and had to cancel our fishing trip, but ended up having a great day with Helen, learning all about Drake Bay and the osa. My daughter had a slight cold when we arrived and Hellen was quick to make some homemade cough elixir for her and got her feeling better. Drake Bay Greenleaf is a very special place and we can not recommend visiting here enough. We were plotting our return before we had even left.
